Platte Valley Presbytery - Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)

Eric Olson

Eric Olson is the pastor of Grace Central Church. Eric and his wife Elaine have been married for 21 years. They have two girls, (Rachel – 21; Tabitha – 19; Karis – 1), and five boys, (Nathan – 17; Samuel & Josiah – 15; Jacob – 12; Isaac – 8); and the dogs Rusty and Sonny.

The Olsons call the Midwest their home. While Elaine grew up exclusively in Indiana, Eric spent about 10 years in Nebraska, before moving back to Indiana for 10 years. After attending Indiana University together, they were married during Eric’s senior year. Moving to Florida with a job transfer, they lived there through 1999.

Eric’s ministry experience includes 2 years working with the homeless population in Ft. Lauderdale, 4 years working in the pro-life movement – helping moms & children in crisis pregnancies. On staff with Covenant Presbyterian Church, a large PCA church in Palm Bay, FL, Eric worked several years with the “Best Yet Set” – those 50 & older; as well as with the Junior High youth group. On top of the responsibilities at Covenant Presbyterian Church, in 1999, he filled in as weekly pulpit supply for Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Vero Beach, FL, before moving to Omaha.

In 1990, Eric earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Indiana University. He graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS – Orlando) in 1999 with a Master of Divinity Degree.

Eric is in his 11th year at Grace Central. Excited about grace, freedom in Christ, & church-planting, he is also an avid student of history. He and Elaine love Omaha and are excited about serving God in this growing, midwestern city. Past sermon series’: Galatians; “The Better Kings” (A series on the good kings of Judah); Titus; “Life of Abraham” (Genesis 12-25); Habakkuk; “Answering Some Hard Questions” (A series on grief.); The Gospel of Luke; “Christ in the Old Testament”; First John; and Mark. In addition to preaching, Eric enjoys the challenge of planning/overseeing the worship music, blending the great hymns of the faith (which reflect the high & exalted transcendence of Yahweh God), with the best contemporary praise & worship songs today (which communicate the nearness and immanence of Immanuel, “God with us”). Writing music is also a most enjoyable pastime.
